South China (华南, Huánán) is a geographical and cultural region that covers the southernmost part of China. Its precise meaning varies with context.
I visited this are several times, the first of which in 12.17. The climate is hotter and more moist than in the northern part, as well as the sun exposure.

• What to visit
Guangzhou is placed about on the tropic of cancer (The invisible line is so called because when it was named (first century BC) the sun was in the direction of the constellation Cancer (Latin for crab) at the June solstice. That is no longer the case, however, because of astronomical precession. Nowadays it’s in Taurus).
Born on the Pearl rivers’s banks, it has been the capital of a vietnamese empire, anchoring for portuguese marine routes and finally part of the PRC, in 1949. It was founded as an harbour and nowadays it’s 4th on the list of busiest ports by cargo tonnage, just below Singapore. It’s served by the bullet train (HSR) and you can get to Wuhan in 3 hours.
I can suggest the following activities, doable in 1 day:

• How to get here
Guangzhou is the principal hub of the region. You can arrive here by car, ferry, flight, etc…
I’ve been served by the Baiyun airport and the Guangzhou South Station (hub for Gaotie).
It’s possible to leave bulky luggages in the above place or also in the central Guangzhou Railway Station. The metro is quite perfect and serves all the city’s corners.
Crowded and hot city, the climate is humid subtropical (Cfa) and the precipitations are around 1000 mm per year. During July the temperatures range between 26-34° with many days of rain or typhoons.
October-November and February-March are the bast months for a visit.
